What is the relationship of woman, and the feminine, to creation and transmutation?
Well, let’s think about the womb space.
In the womb, life is gestated. Life nourished there, in many ways, and it grows as a result.
The womb, then, can be seen as a powerful place of CREATION – a place where life originates.
Women, as womb holders, are therefore powerful creators – which is perhaps why they have been feared and revered throughout the centuries by men. This is also why those who control women, control LIFE itself.
For many centuries now, men have rather successfully controlled the lives of women – often through violence. It’s no wonder that FEAR paralyzes so many women from living fully, even in a modern age where it would appear that we are completely free. With centuries of DNA conditioning, as well as societal and medical structures still reflecting the brutal past, liberation takes time – but most of all, SELF-AWARENESS.
As consciousness on the planet evolves, we are undergoing major societal transformation and the disintegration of what is known as “patriarchy”, particularly as women have come into some semblance of economic autonomy in the past 3-4 decades.
There are practical changes that are taking place on the societal level, and also deep inner, emotional changes occurring at the relational level – within our relationship to ourselves, to men, and to women.
I believe this comes with a lot of confusion, fear, and also pain — because in order to actually process the pain of the past, we have to FEEL it, to move through it, and to let it go.
This is an important emotional and spiritual grieving process. If avoided, the pain shows up in the physical body.
The womb is also a place of TRANSMUTATION, which, by definition is “the action of changing, or the state of being changed into another form.”
Inside the womb, an embryo transforms into a fetus, which then slowly grows into a baby, and is eventually ready to birth out from the waters of the womb into a world that also includes the elements air and earth and fire.
So, women are also naturally, very intimately attuned with change, transformation, and the cycles of transmutation. However, in a world that has neglected, dishonored, and violated the feminine for so long, many people (men and women) struggle with change. This is why there’s a glorification of youth and a hiding away of aging and death. But when we do not honor Nature, we prevent LIFE from unfolding according to its intelligent and sacred design.
May we be blessed with patience and grace as we restore connection with our whole Nature, and especially the feminine aspect of Nature, of ourselves.
