Accept yourself or Change yourself?

A special thanks to the lovely Riela Morhayim for guiding me to find the answer to my question.

THE QUESTION: Should we try to change ourselves or just accept ourselves as we are?
THE ANSWER: True change can only come after you have accepted yourself.

If you can really let the meaning of these words sink into your soul . . . the implications are profound.I used to think that acceptance was some sort of sweet and loving gesture.Like a fluffy hug. "I accept you!" [HUG]But actually, it terms of vibration, acceptance feels much more neutral.Quiet. Calm. Almost boring, even.Feel into it now. Feel it in your body. Acceptance.Notice how it doesn't have a forward motion. It doesn't require action, force. In this sense it's very similar to the vibration of forgiveness.

Acceptance is simply a release of resistance to what is.

And as I'm sure you know (because you've probably tried it countless times — we all have), you can't change when resistance is present. You can't FORCE yourself to change. It's almost like the laws of the universe do not allow it.Your soul has to AGREE to it. And true agreement leaves no room for resistance. You can't try to be something you're not.If it feels difficult or stressful to take certain actions (call your mom, quit your job, apologize to a friend) or adopt a certain state of being (happy, patient, calm), it's because your body mind and soul are just not ready yet. Your current vibration is too far off from that other vibration you're grasping for.

Pretending doesn't change your vibration. It just causes more resistance to it. And what you resist persists.

The quickest way to change? Accept who you are and where you are first.Stop pretending. Resisting. Trying to be what you're not. It just makes things worse.Accept things as they are now.Get quiet.Release the resistance. Resistance is freakin' painful. And unnecessary.

Surrender.

The change you seek will come.Don't be afraid that acceptance of yourself will keep you from changing.Don't be afraid to look at yourself, your thoughts, your feelings.Get curious.

From this zero-point space of acceptance . . . lies unlimited potential.
