Embracing Negative Emotions
In today's guest post the lovely Anjara offers one of the most lucid and wise teachings about our emotions I've ever read. She shows how having a range of emotions is a natural part of our experience on Earth, and indeed an integral part of our spiritual evolution. It's time for a spiritual revolution that embraces our humanity: the light aspects + the dark sides, the clean and lovely + the raw and dirty. Are you in? Check out my upcoming free challenge and join the movement. We begin on March 30!
Within the spiritual community there is an “allergy” to low vibration emotions. Oh, feeling angry, being upset, dissapointed... so unevolved, right? When something happens that makes us feel anger or any other low vibrational emotion we become the target of spiritual criticism. We put pressure on ourselves to stop feeling negative emotions because if we do, and if we express it, our ego and the egos of the people who surround us will react to how far we are from enlightenment.
So we can see how there is a “race for enlightment” that is based on neglecting our human nature and denying that we all feel negative emotions. We are human beings with a strong emotional body that includes a extended range of emotions. When we start our spiritual path we are re-connecting with our real divine nature which is love, kindness, joy and compassion; so, the more connected we are with our divinity, the more we experience this high vibrational state of joy, love and kindness. But it does not mean that we don´t experience negative emotions, we are still human and we still possess our complex and rich emotional body.
This provide us with the opportunity to awaken the awareness that we are able to choose which side we want, to experience our free will and the power to transform our lives.Avoiding negative emotions is just pretending that we are not human beings and denying that our soul has come here to have a human life, therefore avoiding the experiences our soul has chosen.
Allowing yourself to feel low vibrational emotions can help you to practice honoring your needs, to tune in with your desires and your highest good, and to show you the path of authentic happiness.Allowing yourself to feel pain, grief, rage or any other low vibrational emotion can help you to identify the hidden self-sabotaging dynamics that are active at a subconscious level and . . . your karma! All of our experiences are the result of our choices, from this present lifetime and from past lifetimes. Our emotions are just showing us the nature of our choices.
Honor how you feel.Heal your wounds first.Focus on what really makes you happy.Practice self-forgiveness and self acceptance. What really shows you how evolved you are is not the complete absence of negative emotions, but the way you manage and relate to them. By allowing yourself to feel you allow yourself to heal, and this is the way you enlighten your life.
