Reiki Healing

Most people discover Reiki on their journey of healing and spiritual growth.

During a Reiki session, while laying or sitting down, the client is supported to simply relax and receive the spiritual energy flowing from the practitioner to them.

The practitioner does not manipulate or direct energy, but rather allows Reiki to flow through their hands and go where it is spiritually guided to go within the client’s body.

This meeting of the Reiki coming from the practitioner’s hands with the Reiki that is naturally within the client’s own body activates and supports the individual to draw upon this spiritual energy themselves, build it within themselves, and allow it to flow more freely within themselves.

As Reiki flows, it clears blockages as well as nourishes and balances the organs and energy centers (chakras).

Essentially, a Reiki session supports a person to activate their body’s own natural healing ability.

Note: Sessions are always conducted with the client fully clothed. Depending on the preference of the client, the practitioner places their hands either with or without physically contacting the body. Hands are never placed on the breasts or genital area.

What are the results of a Reiki session?

The outcome of a Reiki session is different for each unique person, and depends largely on the individual’s current situation and life experience.

Benefits may include feeling peaceful and rejuvenated, mentally clear, and more spiritually connected. Those dealing with various physical conditions may experience relief from pain and discomfort.

Since the body and mind are inter-connected, as Reiki supports one’s busy mind to settle down, physical tension in the body usually dissipates and a more relaxed and open state is achieved.

Moreover, as the individual’s parasympathetic nervous system is activated by means of this relaxed state, cellular resources are able to go where the body needs them the most. In this way, Reiki absolutely helps boost the immune system.

Simply put, Reiki supports healing, naturally - which is why I’m so passionate about sharing it with the world!

Who may benefit from a Reiki session?

  • Individuals experiencing stress or anxiety

  • Individuals experiencing physical pain and tension in the body

  • Individuals recovering from acute or chronic illness

  • Individuals seeking spiritual growth and intuition development

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a modern system of spiritual practice and healing developed in Japan by Mikao Usui (1865-1926).

Traditionally, in Japan, spiritual technology such as Reiki was often kept secret, or private.

However, Dr. Usui chose to share Reiki openly, with the intention of supporting all people to live a life of harmony, health, and happiness.

The word Reiki itself is a transliteration of a Japanese phrase that means “spiritually guided energy” or simply, “spiritual energy.” There are many other English translations of Reiki. However, “spiritual energy” is the one I find to be the most practical and accurate, based on my 10 years of Reiki practice and study of Chinese and Japanese language and culture.

The spiritual energy known as Reiki is entirely natural, and animates all living things

Dr. Usui did not invent Reiki, but rather created an effective system of spiritual practice and healing that is rooted in this spiritual energy.

“The Reiki method is not only to cure diseases. Its true purpose is to correct the heart-mind, keep the body fit, and lead a happy life using the spiritual abilities with which human beings were endowed from birth.”

~ From the memorial stone of Mikao Usui (1865-1926), founder of the Usui Reiki Ryoho Healing System

What is Reiki healing?

Today, in the West, “Reiki” typically refers either to:

  • the healing aspect of Usui’s system (as in “I received a Reiki session”), or

  • spiritual energy (as in “she allowed the Reiki to flow from her hands”)

The healing aspect of Reiki involves using hand placements on or around the body to promote balance, and therefore, healing. The healing occurs naturally as the Reiki practitioner supports spiritual energy to move more freely through the client’s body.

Reiki sessions are offered by practitioners who have been trained in the Reiki lineage of spiritual practice, and have been attuned to spiritual energy (Reiki) by a Reiki Master teacher.

Often, individuals who come to experience the many benefits of Reiki are later inspired to learn, practice, and share Reiki themselves! (I offer Reiki training in addition to healing sessions.)

FAQs

  • No, Reiki is not a religion. No belief or adherence to any rules or practices are required to either receive or practice Reiki.

  • Yes, Reiki is safe. It is a non-manipulative, non-invasive, and non-diagnostic practice. There are no contraindications to Reiki.

  • I recommend those new to Reiki have 3 sessions over the course of 3-6 weeks. This frequency maximizes the healing benefits of Reiki and also supports the implementation of healthy changes in one’s life.

  • I practice Usui Reiki, as distinguished from other strands of Reiki such as Shamanic Reiki, Holy Fire Reiki, and Sekhem Reiki. I have been attuned to Sekhem Reiki, however, I have not experimented with it enough to consider myself a practitioner of it.

  • Yes. I love teaching Reiki and attuning people to Reiki, because I have found this system and healing practice to be so beneficial to my life and others. Contact me for information about my next Reiki training (typically in-person in NYC) or check my Events page for updates.
